I'd like to create a small frame that would sit over the top of already playing movie footage and have it display its *own* footage, different from that on the larger sized, main movie. I've seen this done many times (usually to display different vantage points in sports or on wedding videos that show the same kind of thing during dances), but have no idea what it's called and can't begin to do the homework until I do.

Does anyone know the name of this process and could they maybe suggest some software to try it with? I'm about googled out and am just not hitting the mark with my description of this, I guess.

    Thanks!

Easy. Use Adobe Premiere. That would be referred to most commonly as picture-in-picture (PIP). Visit the guides at www.wrigleyvideo.com (tutorial site) for guides on how to do this.
