  1. Hi, I am studying website development at the moment. As part of a project, I have built a website for jobseekers and employers.

Just wondering what you guys think of it.

    Any comments would be great.

My website is: [There are currently 100 jobs posted, so you never know, you might even find yourself a job

    Cheers, Kev.

    Man: You sit here, dear.

    Wife: All right.

    Man: Morning!

    Waitress: Morning!

    Man: Well, what've you got?

    Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam;

    Vikings: Spam spam spam spam...

Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam...

Vikings: Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!

Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.

Wife: Have you got anything without spam?

Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.

Wife: I don't want ANY spam!

Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?

Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!

Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?

Vikings: Spam spam spam spam... (Crescendo through next few lines...)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?

    Waitress: Urgghh!

Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!

    Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!

    Waitress: Shut up!

    Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!

Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam.

    Wife: I don't like spam!

Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam spam and spam!

Vikings: Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.

Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and the Vikings drown her words)

Vikings: (Singing elaborately...) Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam spam spam!

I hate the way some places merge jobs that are not related, or categorize them poorly.

    Such as
    Marketing/PR
    or
    Broadcast/Publishing

Marketing has nothing to do with PR. Marketing is business, PR is communication. PR is like mass media for a business. Marketing is a tool for advertising statistics and other busines-related things, including all those crap telemarketing jobs. "Marketing" should have it's own topic. "Advertising/Public Relations" would work good too, that's the creative side of, the communication side, of a company.

Broadcast and Publishing would better be under a media heading, for all journalism job. Something like "Broadcast/Print Journalism" would have been a better header.

If you want to make a new site, work on how you clump and group jobs. Don't just follow the (crappy ass) mold of monster.com and others.

    Mr Talbot,

I would be very leery of doing business with anyone who has concealed their contact information from WHOIS. It's one thing to hide your identity for a personal site, it's quite another to run a business anonymously.

In fact, WHOIS specifically identifies your site as "non-trading":

    Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service.

Free doesn't automatically mean it is not a business. Even though your site is free (for now), it is very similar to a business site like Monster.com.

You hint that you will be charging employers for the service, you refer to marketing purposes and to customers. Sounds like a business to me.

Student did you signup for an account just to tell us about your website?

The site IS free, but you have to understand how it looks like spam to people when you suddenly show up on a site and want the offtopic area (which can only been read by registered members) to view your website.

That being said when in the employeer seciton I noticed at least one area that said "click here to continue" or something like that with the words being the link. When designing a website remember that the people in question are in fact just short of retarded. Maybe use an actual button or make it time out and auto move along after a few seconds.
