  1. I have been putting extra files in the root directory of my DVD's and they play fine on my two DVD players.

Just wondering if this is OK or if others have had problems when do this?

I have been adding files like BMP's of the covers or a PDF of the movie info. These files have either been placed in the Root or in a directory on the DVD. The file names in most cases are longer then 8.3 format not sure if that might be a problem.

What do you all think of this, and is there a best pratice in this area.

    TIA
    Rainey

It would be better to put them into a directory, not the root. Then you can pretty much do whatever you want and it will have no effect on hardware playback.

If you put jpgs or maybe even .bmps into the root then I think that could possibly cause problems on some players because they might think they are picture CDs/DVDs and may start the slideshow mode instead of playing the film.
