I connected Sony DCR-PC9E PAL to firewire pci external port (Digitus 1394 pci).when i turn on camera on vcr mode, computer recognize very late (about 20-30 seconds), when i double click and run windv, it opens after about 30 sec too, is that normal?
because when camera isnt connected, it opens normally, quickly,
I click capture but it doesnt capture anything, i cant view anything in the windv screen, i click play in camera but same result.
I think pci card has a problem, or do i do anything wrong?
CPU:3ghz with 2gb ram.

I'm not an expert but have used WinDV with no problems. It ouwld seem logical that either the camcorder dv output is faulty or firewiire card is faulty, or just a plain old compatibility issue.
Can you try either 1) your camcorder on another PC /MAC 2) Any other firewire device on your PC.
This would seem the simplest first step to narrow down the problem.

I suspect a cable or connection problem. If my cam isn't plugged in all the way, my system locks up when I try to access WinDV.

I moved the cable on the camera input and it is fixed.Problem is the cable or dv port of camera.Thanks.WinDV makes dvavi and works very well.
