How to copy Pioneer 220 VR DVD-RW to DVD-R using computer?

I have a few DVD-RW VR recordings made on my Pioneer 220 and I would like to convert them to a standard DVD-R. I thought I could simply finalize the DVD-RW and use Nero to copy it, but Nero says there is not enough space on the destinatin DVD (it is a blank DVD-R but Nero claims it is short a few megabytes).

I also tried DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor and they don't recognize the VR mode format so they won't open the files on the VR disk.

Am I stuck with the information on these disks? Or is there a way to copy it to a DVD-R?

Also can I erase these disks and reformat them to a normal Video Mode disk?

When I first got a Pioneer 420 I made the mistake of doing some VR mode recordings (I only use DVD-RW's in video mode now). I was able to re-author them to a standard DVD-R using Tmpeg DVD Author - just selected "Add DVD-Video" and it recognised and imported the titles no problem. I'm sure there are other apps that will let you do this, but I haven't tried any.

There will be no problem in erasing the discs and using them in Video mode in the future. When you're ready, just select Initialize from the Disc Setup part of the Home Menu. Make sure you choose Video mode and you're sorted!

how about you copy the .vro file to the hard disk, demux video and audio with dgindex and author with muxman for example. Dgindex handles vr discs no problem.

Better yet, you can demux video and audio with dgindex directly from the dvd drive, instead of copying to hard disk first.
