Hello.
I was wondering if my two drives do not support DVD-R dual layer media. I have both NEC-3520A & Pioneer DVR-109 and use Nero 6.6. Both drives (NEC in Windows 2000 and Pioneer in XP) do not recognise my discs. I am using Mitsubishi Kagaku Media DVD-R (data) dual layer media (DHR85YP5 5pack). When I tried to get the media codes using DVDDecryptor and DVD Identifier I got this message "ERROR : Unable To Initialize Disc In Time : Not ready - Incompatible medium installed [02/30/00]".
Is there anything I can do? For example, firmware updates or software updates? The Pioneer firmware is 8.05. Does anyone else have similar problems with Mitsubushi media? Do I need to do anything to make these drives dual layer compatible? Thanks...

Err... allow me to be the first to reply to this topic. Having recently bought both these drives I mistakenly assumed the firmware would be up to date, especially given the dual layer burning claims on the box. However, this was not the case. Both burners now recognise the Mitsubishi (Verbatim in the West) media having updated their respective firmwares. Sorry for the trouble and wasted bandwidth...
