My XBR413 is about 3 months out of warranty and will no longer record (or play) DVDs. It will play CDs and CDRWs just fine. Zenith wants over $250 to replace the DVD-RW drive, so I'm going to try to replace it myself. I have pulled the drive out and installed it in my PC with similar results. I replaced the drive with a DVD+-R/RW drive, but it does not work (yes, I tried a new IDE cable and checked the jumpers first). Does anyone know what the OEM is for the DVD-RW drive that is in the Zenith XBR413? I called Zenith and they can't (or won't) tell me.
Thanks in advance!

It's definitely a proprietary LG Drive inside. I opened a unit up before and I thought it listed the model number of the drive right on top of it. Also if you install it in your computer the device manager should list the model number.
Alas, this won't help. It's made specifically for the unit and another drive (even an LG) won't work. It'll just say "Please Wait" and eventually turn off.
