I have an old computer that I'm junking. The problem is that I can't transfer the files to my external harddrive, because it was formatted with XP(NTFS) and the computer I'm tossing is running winME (FAT32). I have way to many songs, that putting them all on mp3 cds would take 5 days staight. No lie... No dvd drive on this computer either.

So would it be possible to totally erase the OS from the drive and then put the "music" dirive into my other computer?

just copy them over a network connection - or faster, put the HD temp. in your xp computer and copy the files over ...

you dont need to erase the winme os either - just put the drive in xp system and erase what you dont need later

Yes, but delete the OS after installing this drive into the new computer. There will be another OS Drive Installed? This MP3 drive will become a secondary internal drive.

What I am trying to do is.
    1. fixed older dell running winME for my sis to have
    2. Want to take her HDD (from her HP) that is running winME and put into the refurbished Dell as secondary for her music..

    3. From what I understand I can just put the HP HDD in the Dell as a secondary and then just delete everything (OS, Programs, misc, etc...) that I don't want on it, without losing the mp3s?
