  2. 1st what kind of file is it? Are you wanting to make a vcd or svcd? If you are wanting to play it on your stand-alone dvd player then you want to make vcd. you will most likely need to encode the file to be vcd compliant. There are several tutorials on how to do this. Where did u find Black Hawk down?

  3. well it says its a .rar file which is winrar i am pretty sure of. i got the movie from a server in a chat room, if you have AOl i can send it on, but i am not sure what other services will allow the files. I know i have to encode it, but with what?

  8. Ok the files are in .bin and in .cue, i think that i will have to convert them, but im not sure, there was also another oppertunity to get the files in .avi, would that be easier for me, or harder.

  9. Why is it that people always want to "convert" CUE/BIN images?? (rhetorical, don't answer)

A CUE/BIN disc image is a CD image. That is, don't convert it, just burn it!

  12. So i should just burn the all of the .cue and .bin files in nero?
    Quote Quote
  13. I am not sure Nero supports .bin/.cue files. You could try CDRWIN or CDRDAO (freeware).
Note if you open your CUE file using Notepad, you will see that it references the BIN file inside it. So all you need to do is open your CUE file within your CD Burning application and it will automatically pick up the BIN file.
    And burn it.

  14. alright thanks, but the thing is i have all the programs, but what do you think the best format is to get the files in, .bin/.cue, or .avi? they are both available but i want the one that is possibly less work, i am leaning towards the .avi.

    sorry dude gotta answer...

here is a very good reason, because groups sometimes put intro's in the bin file and i dont want to see that every time i play their movies. i find it especially irritating when the intro is much better quality than the movie itself.

now on the subject of converting VCD bin files, there is only one program that can be trusted. http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdgeargui.htm that is the ONLY version that is reliable. get any version from the vcdgear site and i can guarantee eventually it will screw up converting a bin file. once the bin is converted the mpg can be burned with nero.

if you plan to watch on your computer only DivX (avi) is the way to go. the files are half the size and much easier to find. if you want to make VCD's to play on your DVD player then dont bother with the avi/asf movies because they dont convert well. look for the cue/bin or mpg copies to make VCD's
    peace out,

AWW MA! you know i'm not like other guys. i get nervous and my socks are to loose.

  16. You can use Nero, recommended, as long as you have version 5.5.6.4 or higher, as ahead has added bin/cue support, if you cannot find or do not have nero use cdrwin, It seems as though a lot of geniuses in here forget that they to didnt know what they do now and use this forum as a chance to bash newbies, I apologize for my rude brethren as they have forgotten they were new at one time. If you cannot burn using the above mentioned s/w extract the the files from the bin using winimage or CONVERT them to iso using binchunker, then burn using ezcd creator.
    Good Luck

you have always had the ability to burn bin files with nero. the only thing they did in the newest version was add *.iso and *.cue to the default list. in the past all you had to do was open the file types box and change it to *.* all files.

anyway that is neither here nor there. all versions including the newest have "issues" with burning bin files. i love nero and have defended it to the end but after looking into it i could not deny that nero is still flawed as far as burning bin files goes.

no point using software that does something half assed when you can use something that does it well. thats why i mentioned so specifically what to convert VCD bin files with. thats all this little utility does and it does it better than anything else that i am aware of.

use cdrwin to burn bin files.

sportz, follow the links I gave before. They contain detailed instructions on how to burn a CUE/BIN image using a variety of programs. If you want to make a VCD, then if you download an AVI, you will have to spend hours converting it. If you download a CUE/BIN image it is already the disc image. That is, ALL THE HARD WORK has been done for you. You only need BURN IT.

@ dumwaldo: I take your point... However, if you get into the habit of just extracting the "goods" out of a CUE/BIN image, you may miss out on the menus or chapters that are also authored in... Perhaps it would be a good idea to use Daemon-Tools to check out how the VCD is authored first.

@ the nameless one: don't hijack other people's threads -- if you have a question that is unrelated, post a new one (which you have already done I note).

  21. The files for the cue. bin are in .rar first, but i hate winrar, is there anyother program that i can use to unzip theses (winzip)?
    Nick

  22. Last I knew winzip didnt do rar files, winrar is the best why do you not like it? It will extract all the files at once instead of one at a time. And it does almost all compressed files.

  23. Well its just hard to use, like i am probably doing it wrong, but it is says something about another disk or something? i dont know i will write again when i know exactly what it says, so should i download all the files then open winrar and ?
    Nick

  24. install winrar and click on the file with the .rar extension. Then hit extract to at the top, select the folder you want to extract to, hit OK, then when it asks if you want to extract all volumes hit yes
