  1. anyone know if there is a prog out there that can remove the upper and lower blackouts from a widescreen divx...it's a waste video memory and file size...i guess some people don't know how to rip dvds. please help

    Yes, there is. It's called VirtualDub or NanDub. Just load you avi file, go to filters and click add. Select the resize filter. On the selected filter screen click on cropping and use the appearing interface to ajust what stays and what goes. Next save the avi file an voilá. No more black borders
    I've never had to "remove" them from an existing movie myself, so i have no idea if you need to use full-processing mode, or if direct-stream copy works. Try direct-stream copy first. This keeps the current quality.
