I ordered something last week and had no gotten it yet so I went to the shop to see what was up. They gave me the tracking number and looked it up.
This is what I get right now:
I called and all they could tell me is that it is not guaranteed to arrive anytime this year.

A while back, UPS made a delivery that arrived in my city 1 day earlier than expected, at the local distro center. So did they deliver it early? **** no. They delivered it to another city 40-50 miles away, to their airport hub, and then back again to the distro. I got it the next day, as originally planned.

Usually I have way better luck with FedEx then UPS. However anything at during the holidays is chancey IMO. From about a month or so leading upto christmas it seems that when package problems are most likely to happen.
FedEx a week ago said a package was delivered to my front door on Friday evening around 6pm. But I was right by the door and know it wasn't. The next day at 8pm its actually delivered, but it still shows it came in yesterday. Naughty naughty driver! -

i've never had a problem like this with fedex or ups..
but about 5 or 6 months ago i ordered a dvd burner from newegg, shipped via fedex.. on date of delivery it never showed.. i was pretty surprised, so i checked online and it said it had been delivered.. i called fedex and the lady on the phone said my neighbor signed for it and has the package..
i dont even know my neighbor, he's a foreign guy who doesnt speak english.. but he had my package..
a friend of mine had an even worse experience.. he ordered a poker set online and fedex delivered it to the entirely wrong location.. he called & they told him to go pick it up from the incorrect address.. he didnt know where that was, but they expected him to get it.. eventually after speaking with a manager he got the address, had to drive about 15 miles and go to the persons house to pick it up.. they had opened the package and rifled through the contents..
imagine if you were sending sensitive information or something personal..
i've never really had this problem with UPS.. although about 8 or 9 years ago the UPS guy left my package at my uncles place of work since it had his last name on it too and he was friends with the UPS guy.. even though it was the entirely wrong address and person.. my uncle is kind of an ass, and he was wondering where i got the money to order a 30GB (i think) HDD.. after threatening to call the police on him if he didnt immediatly give it to me he relented..
my mailman used to steal my mail sometimes too.. once a friend sent me some prescription pills to experiment with and they went missing.. along with a bunch of other things..
but since i've got a PO box i've had very good luck with the USPS.. -

Not to lecture lumis but that is some serious shit to mess around with. That is interstate trafficking of prescription drugs without a prescription. Strict liability is imposed and jail time is handed out like candy. There are cases where pharamcists have been sent to jail for 5-10 years because their employees mislabled packages on accident.
Also some federal statutes use the notice rule meaning that the statute of limitations doesn't start running until the govt. has some evidence against you, something that should tip them off that they need to further investigate. I do doubt it, but there is a chance the statute of limitations has not run in your case. -
Wow lumis, hope that was a joke.
Update on my situation, I finally got the package about an hour ago. Boy that guy just rang and ran. The doorbell rang twice and as soon as I opened the door, the guy was already in the van across the street!
The problem: the adpater doesn't work. All that for something that's no good to me. Oh well, I just ordered another piece and made sure that its shipping USPS. Say what you want but I have never had such an experience with USPS or UPS (I have actually had something shipped by UPS the week before and after Christmas and all got here before estimated date).

Oh Oh! Doom and gloom for Lumis! JK
I have had pretty good luck all around with the mail service and the private carriers
Now what is funny is what I see them guys do to your shippments.
I tend to spend some time in service corridors and loading docks because of my work and I can't even remember all of the dropped, thrown, kicked and mishandled packages.
Carts loaded one or two boxes higher than the door opening is like a daily event.
Tossing boxes out of the back of the truck is an hourly event (Fluffing the dented box corner back into a corner shape is an art form for some, and not even attempted by others)
I give some of the regulars that I see some fun greif when I see some of this stuff happening. Keep in mind that these guys aren't just bringing your one little package, they are moving tonage! And day in and day out they are keeping it moving!IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
adam, thanks for the information..
but as i said, it's been quite a a few years.. i'm sure if they were going to bust me for a couple of prescription pills they would have done so by now..
i'm pretty sure the mail man saw it was a package, opened it up, saw it was something questionable.. and probably thought "well, if i report him they'll know i've been opening mail.." so he either used it himself or threw it away.. -

i think there is a big difference between some guy who has a stolen laptop trying to obtain information on how to aid in its use.. and someone talking about doing something that happened many many years ago..
it's like saying "i've smoked marijuana" or "i drive without a seat belt".. i dont think anyone would get banned for that..
and i dont think talking about getting pills many years ago is illegal.. but asking how to aid in the use of a stolen laptop in your possession.. totally different..
if i were to get banned, i think it would be quite a malicious misuse of authority.. it's not like i came in here asking for advice on how to use the pills to get the best high, or asking someone for pills.. or suggesting how to use the pills or anything like that..
it would be pretty weird if i were banned.. and on a side note, i did drive today without my seatbelt on -

@offline,
okay.. now that i see that link about the laptop, i think there is definetly a difference between the situations..
situation a) guy talks about pills he never got many years ago through the mail
situation b) guy has stolen laptop, seeks advice on getting past security restrictions.
situation c) guy talks about driving without seatbelt on.
are the rules so blind they see all 3 situations as the same? i think not.. from what i've seen of this forum it seems people are smarter than something like a stupid "zero tolerance" policy..
