  1. Having played around with PSP Video 9, I am extremely disappointed that there are no framerate options for 25 or 23.976 fps. 29.97fps is the most useless framerate imagineable, as virtually none of the material any sane person would convert for PSP playback uses this framerate. What's going on? Can the PSP really not play 25 and 23.976, or am I just missing something really obvious?

Whats wrong with 29.97fps? There is probabley an easy way to reconvert lower FPS video,to technically meet the 29.97fps requirement.

  3. 99% of all movies are 23.976fps. 99% of all TV shows are 23.976fps. Encoding such material at 29.97 will introduce duplicate or blurred frames, resulting in jerky motion, not to mention wasting bitrate on unnecessary frames. The same goes for 25fps material. 29.97fps is useless, unless you use it for stuff like the news, talkshows, sports, or your home videos, and even then you still need to deinterlace, as the PSP display is progressive, so that will be blurry too. The bottom line is that 29.97 is the most useless framerate ever conceived, even more so when it's progressive.
