  1. I have home movies I neeed to copy to dvd. I don,t have firewire, but I do have a tv tuner card, and a video player ofcourse!
Is it possible to copy to dvd with the above hardware, and if so, which program would be best for me?
Sorry if the answer to this is somewhere else in this forum, but I can,t seem to find it.
    Thanks,

What format are the movies? If you have a composite video in on your tuner card, you could use that. The audio would go to the tuner card or your audio card.

What software you use to capture depends on your tuner card.

If you don't have video in, and you can play the movies on a VCR, you could use the TV out (Antenna) to go into your tuner card, but the quality would suffer. Some camcorders have a TV out that would work the same.

BTW, this is the wrong forum for your question. You should use 'Newbie-General Discussion if in doubt.

I tend to treat family type or life experience video as somehow sacred. You shot it for a reason. If the reason was important, you should do it right and use firewire.

    If not, play with it.

What format are the originals? If they are digital camcorder tapes you should really be using Firewire to do them justice, if they are VHS then you should be able to do the job with what you have. If you use your TV card, try the 30 day free trial of Ulead dvd MovieFactory from www.ulead.com, it works with most video capture devices and does the whole process from capture to burn.
