    I just bought an AOpen DVD1648L-08 with the chameleon bezel to replace my beloved LiteOn 166s (RIP). So far, I'm disappointed with the ripping speeds & I can't seem to find an updated firmware for it. I've searched both the firmware page & AOpen's website. The model # & firmware don't exactly match anything I've found. I'd be much obliged to anyone who could point me in the right direction.

    AOpen DVD1648L-08
    P/N:90.4ED37.1740
    manuf. 9-05
    stock firmware: FTJ1

    I've only tried at ClubCDFreaks AOpen 1648 discussion thread - the possibility was raised there that my drive is a new 1648 model (with no updated firmwares yet available.)
