Hi all,
Its been a long time since posting and a long time since converting a dodgy old vhs pal tape. Im now on a new project and going through the same old questions - 'is there a better standalone tbc' 'should it be line or full frame, or both' 'should I get another card' etc etc blah blah blah.
By now I know its mostly down to the tape and you cant work miracles with bad tape but I couldnt help giving my very old ati aiw rage pci card a go, one of the first aiw's ever made, it has 8mbs + an extra 8mbs that I fitted myself and guess what.......it outperforms the following :
TBC 1000
Matrox rtx100x
Ati aiw 9800 pro
Various Canopus cards and boxes
Problem is it will only capture in avi at 640x480 and no mpeg2. I have posted a similar post before and I still cannot believe the difference in conversion quality. Where it REALLY shines is the way it handles unstable video signals, its almost like it has a built in super sonic tbc !!
Does anyone here, Lord smurf are you listening, know anything about the chips they used on this card ? I sure would love to know what it is that stabilizes a bad vhs feed so well![]()
Cheers
AIW very old card man
