How do I convert a .mkv file with h.264 video, AC3 5.1 audio and English Subtitles to .vob files to be burnt to a DVD-R ?

I have tried VSO DivXtoDVD and AVI2DVD, both dont work.

AVI2DVD gives a floating point error and DivXtoDVD freezes on 6.8%

And by the way - they say that you can use DVDsanta - but it doesn't work for me. Santa crashes.

Then - first of all - you must learn to read. Anyway, try DVDsanta.

I tried it and it doesent even support .mkv.

How stupid is that, no wonder it didnt work. Maybe you should learn to read

DVDsanta does support .mkv - read(!) the matroska guide above. I just converted a . mkv myself, but the subs disappeared in the process.

DVDsanta crashes on my other computer, possibly a codec conflict. So even though santa doesn't work for me, it might work for you.

If it accepts input via dshow then it should accept anything that you can play via dshow which will include mkv files if you have the correct filters installed.

To playback mkv files you need a splitter, plus decoders for contained streams and a subtitle render if it has subs. Basically there are two splitters; gabest's and haali's, numerous decoders depending on the streams and for subs you have directvobsub (VSFilter) and ffdhow.

Some filters might not work well with DVDSanta or vice versa.
