When i came back today i found out that all my video files have become silent movies!

All my windows sounds like clicking and volume check work, mp3 songs work, my games work, however my audio stream in ALL my video files are not working.

I reinstalled my sound card drivers (Realtek ALC681) to no avail. I seriously think it's a codec problem. Any idea how i should go about resolving this issue?

Try play with videolan and see if it works. videolan doesn't use "windows" codecs.

Have you installed any codec packs lately? uninstall and only install the codecs you need.

What is the audio format on ALL your video files ?

Could just be an AC3 codec problem.
    If in doubt, Google it.
