  1. Many of the newer DVD burners coming out now tout being able to burn at 16X for single layer and 8X for dual layer. However I have not yet seen any media which claims to handle these speeds. Have I missed something?

  2. high speed media is available from many retailers, maybe you just need to look harder.
check out the media section to the left,or try online, depending on which country you live in.

My local walmart has 16x SL DVD media. What I'm waiting for is 8x DL DVD media to be sold locally. I can only find 2.4x and 4x media at present. I've been told it should be here by the holidays.

  4. I had only been looking for it over at "tiger direct". gues they are a little behind. Still no 8X DL though I guess.

Tiger direct can be rather pricey for media. You may want to check meritline.com or supermediastore.com

Burners have always had speeds higher than media available.

The only time I can think of an exception was 3 companies (PVC, MCC, TDK) had 2x media when the first burner appeared in 2001. But everybody else was 1x for quite a while (at least a year)..

    BeAll media is crap.

Find some Verbatim media locally in stores (Best Buy):
    MCC03RG20 is 16x DVD-R
    MCC004 is 16x DVD+R

Or buy from an online store like supermediastore, meritline or rima:
    TYG03 is 16x DVD-R

Plenty of 16x DVD around, just look.
