I've twice recorded a few kiddie shows for my children and I cannot get either dvd to play on my car's dvd player. The car dvd player only accepts DVD-VIDEO and DVD-R discs. I recorded to my usual dvd-r media and I've tried all the following:

    1. Take cyberhome dvd+R/W disc, recode to DVD-R disc using my pc
    and dvd-shrink.
    2. Record directly to dvd-r using cyberhome.
    3. Strip out menus and leave just video

The car's dvd player freezes up a few seconds into playing. I'm thinking that the cyberhome dvd format is sloppy. If that is the problem, does anyone know of a way to fix this problem? Any other ideas?

    Thanks!
    Rick

Have you tried the DVD-R you made in any other player besides your car DVD player?

If you don't have other players, I would take your DVD-R to a store like Best Buy or Circuit City and try it in the players they have.

The other option is to try another DVD-R that maybe a friend has made in your car's DVD player and see if it will play that DVD-R.

You need to isolate to whether it is a problem with the DVD-R you made or whether your car's DVD player having problems with playing DVD-R.

Also, which brand of DVD-R are you using?
Check out http://www.nomorecoasters.com for valuable information about buying good media. I myself only buy made-in-Japan disks.

Thanks for the suggestions! The problem was with the format of the cyberhome produced discs. I ripped and re-authored the discs with Nero and I can now play the discs in the van.
