I've been trying to use a menu from a specific DVD as a menu in another DVD project...the problem is, when I author and play, there is slight but noticeable quality loss.

What I've been doing is copying the DVD menu down to a BMP (and I've tried different programs to do this), and then import that BMP into my authoring program (using different programs). The results always yield a slightly blurrier menu. I thought maybe I was saving it as the wrong bitmap resolution, I've tried 720x480, and 640x480, no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

    Hi dwiesel,

You might have better luck using something like DVDRemake - you can effectively edit the DVD structure, what menus are used, buttons, what they link to etc. Though you can't add text / images to a menu.

Thanks...I'm experimenting with DVD-PRO, it seems to be doing the job very well. TMPGENC DVD Author --which I love -- doesn't render bitmap menus very well for some reason (nor does Pinnacle or Ulead).

No problem. There's some good guides out there too - they're listed in this site's guides section, and also on the tool's site.

I used to use dvdauthor and GUI for dvdauthor but got the same results regarding quality loss

as daamon says you can use dvdremake but if this is a one off I'd suffer the slight quality loss
