  1. Does anyone know what kind of Digital Rights Management encryption software is being employed by downloadable rental divx movies? Is it something proprietary, or is it your regular everyday DRM?

I am asking because I find it highly unusual that there is some much discussion and so many tools around the net and on these (and other) forums about DVD decryption, and I am surprise that I have never heard even a whisper about anything related to removing DRM encryption on there DivX rentals....Is it really that good or what? I'd love to hear what others think about this issue. Thanks!

Maybe because it's an illegal activity. And those sort of things are generally not promoted or endorsed on this site? If you buy it you own it. You and you alone! I happen to purchase all my music, with my hard earned money and don't intend to share it with someone for free. Same goes for videos. Spend too much time collecting, purchased, converting etc, to let some lazy, individual who just wants it handed to him. Do a Goggle search for DRM and you'll get an education. That is if you want to put forth the effort to read and research.

I would guess that it doesn't get much attention because the quality of DIVX files is crap compared to a DVD release.

DRM although designed to keep us honest, can and often does, require us to purchase lots of hardware.

All those iPod's are required because of the vast multitude of Apple's DRM types ? Or just an indulgence ?

No, Not a DRM issue, corporate yes. One each for the Home, 2 Cars and the Buisness Office. Plus I have an electronics addiction. Been trying to kick the habit for years. Between HAM Radio, GPS(s), Computers, Handheld Electronics and many others, its just too much fun stuff to enjoy while on the planet for the short time we have. Plus I grew up poor in the 1960's. Need I say more. Gee that felt good admiting to all that.
