Looking for some more specific info on the Sony kds-rdxbr "1080p".
http://www.sonystyle.com/intershoproot/eCS/Store/en/documents/specifications/KDS-R50XBR1_manual.pdf
According to the manual (page 115), the hdmi interface accepts 1080i,720p,480p,480i... so no 1080p?
Page 28 sais about component connections..."note that this tv displays all format types of picture in a resolution of 1920 dots x 1080 lines." What exactly does that mean?
Page 100 shows the displayable resolution of the d-sub input all the way up to 1280 x 1024. Does this mean a 1024P signal can be displayed natively?i.e. a PC can be hooked up with a res of 1280x1024 without any scaling?
According to this blurb: http://products.sel.sony.com/hdtv/tech/main/sxrd_index.html "SXRD™ is the only television technology that preserves every pixel of the source, and brings the full 1080 lines to the screen without interlacing."
That seems to imply that the TV can display 1080p natively, but the manual's description's are confusing and don't make reference to 1080p. In other words...can I hook up a PC to the hdmi input and display a 1920 x 1080 desktop?
EDIT: oh yea, and no HDCP on this rite?

Well, I went to Fry's where they have this on display and plugged my laptop into it. According to the manual (page100) over the d-sub connection it will display 1280x768. It sure does, and it looks great...as long as you don't mind a foot and a half of black space all around. They also had a PC hooked up to a Mitsubishi TV that was advertising 1080p (another LCoS) and that looked like caca at 1920x1080 (screen was flickering all around). The refresh rate was set to 30hz, so I changed it to 60 and the screen shrunk down and put black bars all around it like it did on the Sony. Either I have a very limited understanding of these TV's or they totally do not do what they say they will do. Or both.
