I have a 26G AVI (Panasonic Codec) that I transferred from MiniDV (type 2) and edited down to 22G in Vegas... after edit audio and video are IN synch even in multiple applications. After encoding in TMPGenc 3.0 XPress the audio starts to get off around 3/4 of the way through the 1 hour and 45 min mpeg. It's not off by much, but just enough to be noticeable (fraction of a second). Any solutions to fix or do I have to change some settings and re-encode; I went with mostly 'defaults' in the encode process.
Also, on a 1.8Ghz Pentium, should it take 9-10 hours to encode?

    Thanks!

Try just reencoding the audio after the edit, then mux it back into the video during authoring. (Assuming you are wanting to end up with a DVD.)

That encoding time may be alright, depends on your settings. During that long of an encode, something in the computer may have interrupted the process for a short period.

    Thanks Redwudz!

I found out that even though all the other apps played the a/v out of sync, they were actually in sync when viewed in XPress and acutally burned in sync.

  4. Some programs do not play properly interlaced video such as DV files. They will seem out of sync when they are actually not. If you play them with a program like PowerDVD, they will seem in sync.
