  1. Yeah so in short...

I found a collection of VCD Covers for a series I have been printing off...Anyways they basically look like so...

    Series.vcd.EpsNUMBERgoesHERE.front.jpg
    Series.vcd.EpsNUMBERgoesHERE.back.jpg
    Series.vcd.EpsNUMBERgoesHERE.cd.jpg

Now im sure the .cd.jpg goes onto the actual cd but my question is...Do I need some special kind of paper...and how do I attach it to the cd? Glue? If so a special kid? Some sort of adhesive paper???

Im going to be headed out in about 2 hours to a place where I will have access to a Laser Color Printer and to stop off at a stationary store(Staples) to buy any kind of special paper/etc that I will need to print off these VCDs...

Also do I need to specify the exact measurements of a CD-Case? IE 10cm x 20cm or is it usually done automatically/designed to be the exact right pixels to fill up the paper with the desired width/height to fit in a standard cd case??? Anyways...Any help would be greatly appreciated...etc.

  2. Use any graphics or label program or in MS Word draw mode, create a 4.77 x 4.77 inch box, no fill, insert the graphic and print. Many label programs now have a templete for CD Tray inserts or CD rom templates. Hope that helps

  3. You can buy a kit that has the software you need... don't get the paper that you have to cut yourself, it's very difficult to cut a perfect circle. Print a label that you can peel off, some of the kits have a stamper... those are priceless! It's important to stamp perfectly centered, something almost impossible to do without the stamper. I'm sure Staples has the stuff you need, just ask for help if you're confused.

    Definitive answer:

for downloads of all VCD/DIVX/DVD covers goto: http://www.cdcovers.cc/
This site also provides FREE software for printing all covers in the correct format. It has black outlines, so you will not have any problem cutting the paper.
To label a CD: Go to a store an buy special paper. This paper is like a sticker. You do not have to cut anything, as the stickers already have the correct format.
The FREE software for covers printing supports also printing software for a CD label.

  6. So how do people actually etch/burn a picture onto the face of the c.d. itself??

  7. @ bilbogod

There are inkjet and thermal cd printers availiable, but they are very very very expensive, in the neighborhood of 5000-25000 depending on the model.

I got too frustrated centering labels on my pre-cut sheets, so I get full sheet labels from Avery. I found a hard plastic baby bowl at toys R us that is the exact diameter of my labels, and I cut around it with an exacto knife. Another benefit of this is that I can have graphics all the way to the center hole (which I just core out when the label is affixed)
