  1. ok i got a prob with playing any avi's whatever prog i use, what happens is say eg, i load an avi into mediaplayer, i get no pic, just sound, the media player timer scroll thing doesnt work, and then crashes, i exit media player, but still hear the sound, no windows or progs work, and a few mouse click and i hear a beep, and the comp freezes totally

i thought it must of been a codec i installed, couldnt solve it whatever i did, so i thought damn, ill format, so i did

after format, all i installed codec wise was latest divx

ang i get the same prob!!!!

i uninstalled latest divx and installed 5.something, same prob!!!

my comp spec is as follows

    xp2400+ cpu
    1 gig ram
    radeon 9600
    240 gig harddrive space

anyone else have this prob, please help

thing is a few weeks ago, all was fine!!

Open the AVI in Gspot. It will tell you the actual codec it uses. Then install the latest version of the codec.

I still don't see the advantage in hiding what codec it is. If you know everything then why the post?

Well then, do what the nice people tell you to do, for them to be able to help you. Open the AVI in GSpot, make a screen shot, post it here.
