I have recently encoded an ogm video with XviD in virtualdubmod, with uncompressed audio. I cannot hear the audio in the .avi.
I have tried installing lame mp3 and I even copyed all the .dll's and other stuff into the virtualdubmod folder but it still doesn't show up in the compression list for audio.
Also with avi-mux, it won't let me output the file to .avi! the only choice it matroska. What's up with that?

AVIMuxGUI can't mux vorbis to avi. So what is up with that is that avi is an outdated crappy inferior container. That said ffmpeg can mux vorbis to avi, the overheads are huge and it isn't well supported so I really wouldn't recommend it.

Was there really a need to start a new thread on this?

  3. As I understand it you create an ogm which have inside xvid encoded video and an uncompressed (PCM) audio? Or you have ogm, load it in VDM, select video compression xvid and audio compression uncompressed and try to save it as avi?
If it is the first I don't know if ogm container support uncompressed audio. If it is the second try to work only with audio, save it as uncompressed wav and try to play the wav.
