  1. Just wondering what hardware and cables are needed to output from a PC to TV? Do I just need a video out card and some rca cables? What would a PC to TV setup run me?

    Thanks

Check your graphics card. If it only a year or two old there is a good chance it will have an s-video output on it. Just plug that into your TV or AV-amp, hook up the sound and you are set to go. Otherwise, your options are either a VGA to composite converter, or replace the graphics card with one that has video out (most do). I occassionally hook up a laptop to my amp with a single s-video cable, and a 3.5mm stereo phono jack to stereo RCAs cable. works a treat.

If it turns out that you have to buy something in order to get what is on your pc to your tv then I suggest the Hauppauge MediaMVP. Ebay is selling them for around $60 plus shipping and Newegg for $86. This unit plays video, music and stills via a LAN cable.

    Just a thought!
