  1. hi i have a sony ccd-trv37 ..its pretty old...like 4-5 yrs old..it records to tape i read the faq that u need a firewire cable to transfer to pc but in the tutorial picture that camera has DV in and out ..mine only has DC in not DV in and my camera doesnt have a firewire cable..and my DC In slot looks different from the tutorial picture too..so should i just buy the firewire cable and test it out? heres wat im talking bout

  2. DC is for power, ie DC power as opposed to AC power. DV is for Digital Video. The TRV37 is a high 8 camcorder. No DV.

You need to convert your footage to digital either with a capture device connected to your PC or you can use a DVD recorder and then copy the footage from the DVD disk to your PC.

My camcorder (panasonic ds25) booklet says to use interface box to connect to computer. Don't know whats this "interface box" is about. There is no mention of firewire etc. But yes, there is a DV in/out slot.

Then all you need is a firewire cable and a PC with a firewire port. And some software like DVIO.
