    Hi, do you know whether there are any benefits of using a 64 bit software player to playback HD footage encoded with H.264 / mpeg4 rather then using a 32 bit software package?
    Anybody tried it?

    Little, if any difference at the moment for playback. But that can change any day. There's an Xvid 64 version posted here, but I haven't seen any h264 implementations yet.

    There is a 64bit build of x264, however x264 doesn't include a decoder. mplayer can be compiled 64bit, although not under windows.

    Not to sure on ffdshow's 64bit status, but it is being worked on. I think currently it at least compiles.
