advice on first xvid conversion please

Downloaded a film and joined all files with HJ SPLIT.
Now i have a xvid file some 716,206kb in size,whereas before all the individual files were 14,649kb in size.
My question is how do i enter it into the s2d programe to be converted ?.
I clicked on load assets tab and browsed to the folder to where this file is but it is not shown ????????.

What is the file extension (type)?

Change the extension to .xvid or .avi

Changed extension to.xvid then changed it to .avi.
On both occasions nothing happened.
I mean after selecting either extension and clicking on open thats it ?.
It was not entered into the asset section at the bottom of the screen.
The film plays using WMP OR VLC.
I was going to post a log but none was created as i suppose it did not do anything to log.

Can you send me a sample of the avi? (use the makesample tool in the Tools folder) I only need about a meg or so...

What you sent was a RAR file!!. Use WinRar to join those 14MB segments: this will give you the avi which will work in SVCD2DVD

I did join all the 14mb files together using hj split and it give me 1 new file which i took a 2mb sample from the e mailed it to you ??.

Since i sent it i have noticed every time i click on it or open the folder it is in the pc locks up and the desktop icons vanish so i have decided to delete it.
I will start again.

the file was the start of a rar set. therefore hjsplit is no good to join them with - you need to use WinRar.

Downloaded another version and used winrar to join/extract all the separate files then burnt.
All worked ok and pc dont freeze up anymore.
