Granted the complex matrix of DVD brands, players etc.......

I burn one DVD, duration 30 minutes, send to client and works fine.

I burn 2nd DVD, duration 2 hours, (including the 30 minutes from DVD one), and the client has 'jumping' issues when played.

Certainly tested both on DVD player before releasing, and client is playing on their laptop. Is it possible the quantity of data on the DVD may effect performance?

I use FCP 3 and IDVD.

    Any input much appreciated

What is the media code of the disk ?
Does it jump all the way through, or only at the end ?
Does it jump consistently in the same place ?

not sure about the media code, but can tell you they are Shintaro dvd-r 8X.

I have had this issue before and generally it jumps in the same place, that place might be the start or the middle or the end.

Sometimes the disk just wont load.

There are a lot of variables.
It could be your source file, it could be your encoder, it could be the users viewing software, a dvd burned/encoded to be played back on tv, should look better on tv in most cases, than it will on the pc (depending on your software/hardware), your hard drive may have been fragmented when you captured your source, or when you encoded, it could be your capture card or the firmware for your card, etc.. The only way to resolve these types of issues, is the process of elimination. Keep replacing one thing at a time in the scenario, and see what happens. Start with the easy things first, like using a new or different source file with the same setups and see if the problem is repeated, but make sure that you defrag your hd first. I make it a habit to defrag my hd right before I capture, and if the file sits for awhile before i encode, I will also defrag before I encode. All my burns have been very good experiences doing things this way.

Shintaro are Princo disks, which have a pretty poor reputation
