Premiere Pro enables me to import WMV HD files. However, when I export, the resulting imagery appears jumpy (regardless of whether the export format is DV, MPEG, etc). On closer inspection, I've found that Premiere "duplicates" a frame roughly every second, which I conclude causes the appearance of "jumpiness". Looking at the properties of the WMV file, it indicates that the frame rate is 29.00fps rather than 29.97fps for DV, MPEG, etc. I suspect that it has something to do with this frame rate difference.
Question, is there any way to adjust for this in Premiere?
I've used Procoder to simply render this WMV HD file to both DV and MPEG and the results are fine--no jumpiness. However, using Procoder when the file is imported into Premiere, the "jumpiness" returns.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Found the option to "interpret footage". Changed to 29.97 fps. Thought this would solve the problem. Unfortunately, the "jumpiness" is still there. Interestingly enough, when I step through frame-by-frame, the I don't find the duplicate frames, so now it seems like it "skips" a frame at the same rate. What a mystery. Again, any suggetions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here is the odd bit. In Premiere, the properties box indicates a 29.00fps frame rate (also found the same thing in Premiere 6.5). That was the reason I adjusted it to 29.97fps using "interpret footage". If I input the file directly into Procoder, it indicates that the frame rate is 29.97fps. There is something definitely weird in Premiere. As stated earlier, if I render the file directly from Procoder, the output is great--very smooth. I just posted the same problem on the Premiere Pro forum, so hopefully, I can find an answer. Thanks.

OK, I haven't tried WMV imports into Premiere Pro so ask them.
My advise is to get control of the full process including WMV encoding so you know what you are working with.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
