Hey fellas,
I'm currently cutting on CS4 Premiere Pro. Is it necessary to render the timeline before exporting to a certain file type. When you do export in Pro, the same window is present - Rendering - during both render and export. Does exporting render the selection, while it exports?

No, it's not necessary. Exporting just queues it up in the Adobe Media Encoder. You still have to push start in AME., and it will render as it encodes. One benefit of having AME as a separate program frees you up to edit other projects, while it renders in the background
