  1. I have a film on a dvd ram disk made by my Panasonic dvd recorder
I have taken the vro file, copied it to my hard drive and renamed it as a mpeg file. then when I try to burn it to a write once disc or a dvd-rw disk, I am told "not enough space on disk" is there an answer to this problem, I mean the file came off the ram disk and I am trying to write it to a
    dvd-rw disk.
as you may gather I am new to this but will learn in the end, thanks in anticpation of some kinda help.

Are you trying to copy the mpg file or author a new disc?? If you're just making a copy can't you do a disc copy?

Or you can author the disc and shrink it with dvdshrink.

Or use a program like tmpgenc and split the mpg in half so you can put it on two discs.

Who/what told you that? My guess is nero.

What tools and methods are you using and what type of disk are you trying to create? Are you making a data disk or DVD-video disk?

  4. Hi , I am using power producer two which came with the dvd drive I have just purchased, the drive is dvd-Ram compatible and rather stupidly I imagined I could just backup from one type of disk to another, the main reason for me wanting to do this was to archive my films ( from tv ) from the ram disks ( expensive ) to the much cheaper dvd-r, all this I thought I could after editing out parts I didn't want. Am I a prat or wot !!!

TMPGEnc DVD Author will accept the VRO (do not rename it to mpg) and outputs in DVD-video format with menu's etc. It can burn it to disk as well. It only does basic cut editting though.

For more advanced editting I recommend Womble Mpeg Video Wizard which also accepts the VRO as-is and outputs a *.mpg file.
