I was watching Super Size Me. Now, I don't live in the U.S, but I would imagine that there are plenty of people out there that don't want to pay for someone elses poor eating habits...all the fast food and clogged arteries. Maybe if America and other obese countries cleaned up their diets, there'd be better healthcare. I'm just assuming though...I have no idea really...![]()
Any thoughts?

This thread could get very political. Just saying.
I'll keep an eye on it. leave it to beavereater to start something
Part of the problem with "cleaning up our diets" is that NOT doing so is easier, more conveniant, and taste better.
I only eat a few breakfast items at McDonalds though, their food is horrible. But sweet sweet sauage biscuit... -
I hope no smokers take offence but you could say the same thing about smokers also. That's all I'm saying as I don't know what else to say

As far as convinient....yeah...it is. But if you put a little effort into you could always have something to eat ready in your bag, purse of fridge. As far as taste...here's a sample of something I eat that tastes GREAT and is totally healthy...
200 grams rice
200 grams lean beef steak (Grilled)
3 tablespoons of sesame seed oil
0.5 tablespoon of basil
Totals
calories: 1135 Fats:61grams Carbs:62grams Protein: 85grams
Allll good stuff...SmileSmile

The only reason I mention this is because a friend today, feeling like crap (He has a cold or something) decided to eat nothing but peanut butter and snickers bars. He's headed to the hospital where I'm sure he'll go through about 500 dollars worth of tests...and part of that expensive bill is paid for by me...why should I?

@MackemX
The food might be light in weight, but it's the calories that gives you the energy. If it were 400 grams of lettuce, I'd be starving too. But with the oil...it makes it a great meal. You'd be surprise how NOT hungry you are, and how much MORE energy you'd have.SmileSmile

It would be nice if there was a easy fix for the healthcare system but there isn't. The system needs to be overhauled but where do you begin. I only see it getting worse until only the very rich and the ones getting government assistance will have healthcare.

That's just A meal. There are plenty more that are out there that taste just a good...and when you start living (Not just eating) right, you feel much better and you'll see that the whole convinience factor was just an excuse to NOT start doing the right thingSmileSmile

I'll admit...I love whoppers...but there aren't any in Japan. Eating shit food is good in moderation. But people get married, looking good no longer matters and it's just about enjoying life. Then they develope diabetes and other diseases that could've been avoided with proper eating habits. My grandmother always said she wishes she could go back and eat healthier like her sister. Her sister can still live on her own and take care of herself, my grandmother is stuck in a nursing home. The price she pays for eating crap all the time...

This thread should be moved to Politik so we can post more tasteless pictures in it without upsetting a certain mod.

beavereater, the US uses a very unsocialist type of healthcare system in that there is relatively little state funding. Most hospitals are basically just businesses. If you have insurance you are covered, otherwise you'll have to pay out of pocket. If you can't do this you go to a cheaper hospital sometimes at the county level. There are pro bono programs and federal and some state aid but the vast majority of people just pay their own way...even if it takes them a lifetime.
So my point is that in the US you generally DON'T pay for someone else's healthcare they do.
Obesity does affect our economy. Corporations have to pay through the nose in their employee insurance plans because of people's bad habits. So much so that some corporations have started to discriminate against obese people and smokers and tell them lose weight and stop smoking or you're fired.
But at the same time we've got a BILLION dollar a year diet product industry. -

Beaver:
Your premise is faulty. The poor eaters and smokers go quickly from heart attacks, strokes and cancer. They don't cost as much as you think just a bit of medicine and pain killers for a short time.
The healthy sons of a gun last too long and we have to pay for their old age security and eventually many years in subsidized nursing homes.
Now that's the real problem.
btw) I plan to be one of those that bleeds the system dry -
Sorry..I've been sick. Took me a while to get back.

Well all this time I THOUGHT people would be nice enough to pay for my medical bills but I guess not.
Make you a deal everyone just pay for my Xbox 360 and we will call it even ok? -

is this a drug related comment? regardless I've never touched them and never will apart from booze and women 8). OK, maybe cars and football could also be classed as a drug -
Mushrooms are good if you want to add a little flavor to whatever you're eating and it's very healthy, but I think as far as protein goes, you have much better choices. There are a lot of different things I think people lack in their daily diet and substitute for crap.
If you're talking about the magical kind...well...er...they have their ups and downsSmileSmile
