  1. In first place, this is my first post.... So.. Hello everyone!

    I have a weird problem.

I was able to see the subtitles (.sub) during preview (consequently they would be in the recording process..)
but suddently NeroVision doesn't show them anymore... fddshow is ok.. i can record a dvd (but without subtitles) so what's going on?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Try to use .srt format of subtitles.
Use Subtitle Workshop to convert your .sub to .srt.
Put that .srt to the same folder where your .avi is, and take care that both files .avi and srt, have the same name.
    It should work.

I already tried .srt But i guess only .sub would work.
    Perhaps reinstalling NeroVision..?
I had a virus for a few minutes/hours in my computer... Maybe something got corrupted...

There are other applications which you may try:
    VSO DivxToDVD
    Film machine
    DIKO
    and others.

Maybe you could try some older version of NeroVision or try VOBsub to force subtitles.

  7. The new version has got to work... With ffdshow!
I don't wanna solve the trouble by "running away"
The must be a reasonable explanation for this to continue happening.
I already uninstalled the codecs and nerovision, and installed them again.

If i force subtitles with ffdshow (i choose the subtitle instead of ffdshow searching it) it continues NOT TO SHOW UP on NeroVision, but i was watching a movie in BSPlayer and...
    There were the subtitles!
I guess the problem is resuming itself to NeroVision... What do you guys think? Anyone with a similar problem?

Do you see subtitles if you open the video in Windows Media Player or in Power DVD?
If you do, then the issue must be in your version of Nero Vision.
I used Nero Vision before for the same purpose. Sometimes I had troubles with some versions of NVE 3 (Ido not remember which), so I switched back to NVE 2.
There is also one thing with Nero Vision - it does not like if you change the default automatic settings.

  9. Thank you for your support.
I'll try to uninstall it all (codecs and NVE 3) and reinstall it again, but this time NVE 2.
The program i see subtitles when i open the video is BSPlayer.

Look, BSplayer has its own support for subtitles, so if you see subtitles in BSplayer it doesn't mean that subtitles are forced with ffdshow.
If you can not see subtitles in other players, then you did something wrong.

  11. BSPlayer had 2 subtitles (the same file)... The ones that i can toggle with 'S' key and there where the others forced by ffdshow

Yes, I see. It is OK then. Sorry.
It must be the problem with that version of NVE.
I have used NVE extensively before, so it is known that sometimes different versions have had various issues.
Really, try to use some earlier version of NVE.
I haven't had troubles installing an reinstalling versions of NVE.
Now I've looked thru my notes and the best version of NVE for me was:
    NEROVISIONEXPRESS 212.12
when I used to convert avi to dvd with permanent subtitles.

  13. But my problem with NVE is the following:

In NVE3 is the subtitles problem discussed in this topic.

In NVE2 i can see subtitles during preview but it doesn't detect (i guess) the DVD Writer.
It just says "not enough space". Check http://sleepers.no-ip.org/untitled5.JPG for a screenshot.

    Thank you in advance.

    OK I saw that screenshot.
There is nothing wrong with that. This is trivial. The program presumes that you want to write to CD disc (700 Mb).
So, your target disc has to be DVD disc (4.7 Gb).
Put an empty DVD disc in your DVD writer, and it should be OK. You could burn to hard disc, as well.
You have to be sure that you have entered all serial numbers correctly, for the program and moduls (mpeg2).
Download and read help file and tutorial for NVE.

I don't have CD Writer drive plugged now, only DVD writer...

The "burn to hard disk" option isn't at the menu, as you can see in the picture.

  16. With NeroVision 2, i can convert a video to DVD with my custom subtitles, i see it in the preview, but it doesn't let me convert to hard disk it just says "not enough space (about 703MB)"

So, when changing to NVE3 i can convert, it states the real available size, however, the subtitles don't work anymore.

    Basically, with NVE2 i can't convert to HD but i have subtitles;
In NVE3 i can convert to hard disk but without subtitles.

    Solutions??

    Yes, that's weird.
Try with this tutorial from Baldrick:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php

Maybe Vobsub instead of ffdshow to force subtitles.
Maybe you could consider to change the application, now when you have experienced nothing but troubles with NVE.
I think that it is a good time now to try those applications which I mentioned earlier.

  18. I contacted the Nero guys, they told me perhaps the issues with Windows raised because i have SP2 installed. That should be it.

However, i found an alternate program!
Thank you ALL and specially Jeremiah58 !

I use NVE 3.1.0.16 and have the same problem. If i play a certain Xvid Avi in Mediaplayer. the Fddshow icon pops up in the system tray, however it does not in NVE. UNTIL...., i select 2-pass VBR encoding in the video options of NVE, then Fddshow starts! Please respond if this works for you!

** EDIT **: 2-pass still showed unpredictable results, but disabling 'Smart encoding' in the video options seems to do the trick .

** EDIT2 **: Altough the fddshow icon pop'd up in the systray, no subs
