  1. I've given up on NERO as there is NO suport either from teh company or a support group. I need to dig into an authoring tool and it looks like VCDEasy might be that tool. How about suggestions group? Also, is there a detailed guide to VCDEasy? I have the freeware version but the few errors that are showing up are not explained either. Errors are preventing the disc from burning. From this outsiders point of view, you have to have a lot of technical knowledge before you can even converse. I need help.

    Hi zok4me2000,

From your post, it sounds like you want to make VCDs though you don't actually say so.

VCDEasy is a good tool - I used a freeware version when I first got into video a couple of years agp. I haven't used it for a while though...

As for guides, click on the link "VCDEasy" and there's a whole load listed under the details of the tool.

What is your source? i.e. what type of file are you tring to make VCDs from? Use GSpot (v2.52 beta) and post a screen shot. This could have an influence...

Also, what are you using to encode to MPEG1 (VCD standard)?
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If it's not vcds you want but dvds, check out TDA for the same basic out-of-the-box menus and functionality as nero, or dvdlab for creative and complex ones.

  4. Yes, I am trying to burn VCD's.

For capture and editing I use Studio Ver 8. I am also using the Studio's rendering to produce an '.mpg' (mpeg-1) file. From here I had wished to use NERO to author a multi-movie (short snips) VCD. As I said, NERO is now out-of-here.

I am not familiar with Gspot. What is it and where do I find it?

As for VCDEasy, it recognizes the two files I have as mPeg-1's. I had VCDEasy start the conversion process but two errors occured. One said it needed to auto pad and the other claimed there wasa bad mpeg packet. In additon to that I am now having trouble with the CD-Rom driver. VCDEasy said there isn't any yet Win98SE has loaded the correct software. What am I missing here??? I will review the guides as you have mentioned, but I am also not enamoured with the written help text. It seems so much is left out. I hope there is a section on errors and what to do?!

I will also check out TDA and dvd labs. Thank you so much.

  6. zok4me2000,

Your thread title doesn't really describe your problem, and is often passed over by experienced users who would otherwise be able to offer you help. It also means that anyone searching for the same problem in the future can't tell if this post is what they are looking for.

Please change the title to something suitable.

    Regards,

First, VCDEasy doesn't convert. It relies on you to have the source material ready and in the correct formats. It will warn you if anything's wrong, but try to make the best of the situatiion if you tell it to go ahead anyway.
Autopadding : Your source mpg isn't multiplexed as VCD mpg. Remultiplex as Video CD using TMPGEnc (File -> mpeg tools).
If VCDEasy complains about a bad mpeg packet, I'm sure there is a bad mpeg packet. It doesn't fire off error messages just for fun. This could also be solved by remultiplexing, like the mpeg with the wrong multiplex type.
VCDEasy requires a working ASPI layer. Try ForceASPI. Or, if that fails, just create the cue/bin on HDD and burn that with "anything" like even Nero!

  9. Thank you for all the responses. With the information that [/quote]/Mats
provided, I used TMPGEnc and then VCDEasy. THis combination finally worked and indeed I produced a VCD that plays on my DVD. The new re-coded file caused no errors in VCDEasy and indeed burned the VCD I needed. Any further questions will be addressed under a new topic. Thanks again.
P.S. it still makes me mad that Pinnacle advertises that its VCD output file (MPeg-1) is ready for burning. HA! No such way.
