The strangest thing has happened. Every time an application uses the Windows XP common open dialog, the files are always sorted by size. I use the popup menu to arrange them by name. It works then but it doesn't remember the setting. The next time I try and open something, the files are sorted by size again.
This is happenning with all applications and it's getting to be a real pain. Does anyone know how to change this setting so it "sticks"? I have no idea how it got this way.
Thanks,
Vincent

I finally found out how to fix this. I'm posting the solution in case this ever happen to anyone. After a few weeks, it can get very annoying. So...
-----------(from Google Groups) -----------
This behavior can occur if the sort order in Windows Explorer is changed
from the default order. To resolve this behavior, and reset the default sort
order:
Right-click Start, click Explore, and then click drive C.
On the View menu, click Details.
Click the Name column to sort items by name, press and hold down the CTRL key, and then quit Windows Explorer by clicking Close in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Release the CTRL key.
Restart your computer.
Note: You must perform these steps exactly as they are listed. For example,
do not quit Windows Explorer by clicking Exit on the File menu.
