    Hello,

I used a stand alone Lite-ON DVD burner to transfer some old VHS material to DVD, and now I want to take those DVD's and rip/convert them to .avi, but I'm running into a strange audio sync issue along the way.

Each DVD may have 10 separate burned 'chapters', but when I rip them with DVD Fab, I just get the usual 4 VOBs which I use for the conversion with DGIndex, VirtualDubMod, and other programs. Now, here comes the problem—

When I view the output file, which is one large continuous file, what was the first chapter has perfectly synced audio, but as soon as the video reaches whatever frame separates the first chapter from the second chapter, the audio goes out of sync, and gets further out of sync with each additional chapter. By the end, the thing is off by multiple seconds.

Is this a common problem and/or does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you,
    David

    It's your software doing it.

Use DVD Decrypter, and rip the video stream in IFO mode (in settings, be sure DVD-D is set to output 1 file of any size).

Then open that in VirtualDub. I don't use the "mod" version, but the MPEG2 capable version.

You should have no issues. I've done it just fine, and that includes LiteOn files.
