  1. Hi,

I looking at building a new "budget" PC.

So far I would like to get this mobo
ASRock K7S41 Socket A (Socket 462) SiS 741 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
    and this CPU
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton 266MHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket A Processor

I just want to make sure that this CPU and MOBO will work together. Thanks

    AMD Rulzzzz 8)

They should work together, though the CPU FSB is slower than the MB's. But for about the same price, you could get something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813186041

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819104241

You will find it runs much cooler and is a little faster for the same cost.

I don't know much about the Foxconn MBs, but there are other micro-ATX mother boards in about the same price range with on board video.

AMD Sempron 754 CPUs are a bargain right now. The one I have in my media computer runs about 28C to a maximum of 33C. The CPU above comes with a heatsink also.

i like redwudz's suggestion. only thing is i would go with a mobo more like abit or dfi. or even asus, msi, or gigabyte. im not a fan at all of onboard video, maybe pick up a cheap mx4000 or 9200 which would still be 10x better than anything onboard lol.
