  2. Peace Keeper,

    Firstly, welcome to VideoHelp!

You will need the following equipment:

    - Something to play the original tape on (suprisingly!)
    - A video card capable of capturing video (usually says ViVo for Video in/Video out) or a proper capture card
    - A cable to connect the two together
    - Lots of hard drive space free
    - A fairly quick computer

If you look to the left-hand side of this screen, you'll see a whole load of links. There are guides under "How To" detailing how to "Capture". You can sift through these first. Once you've captured your video to your PC and want to put it on to a DVD, you need to have a look under "Convert".

Since this is your first time here, I'll link to the guide that I followed when I captured some video from VHS:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/89899.php

Now, here's how to convert it to DVD:

If you have any problems, post them up here and someone is bound to be able to help!

    Best of luck,

    Cobra

That sounds like it will be able to cope just fine.

Have a crack at it, and if you get stuck just post up and we can help you out.

    Good luck!

If you want a quick way, you can buy a cheap DVD Recorder (settop box) and capture/record directly to DVD format.

Then use something like TMPG DVD Author to edit, add menus, etc. Worked well for me with old 8mm family videos. Also has firewire to capture off of my DV Camcorder for future movies.
