I have tried encoding from a video_ts folder using the divx3 (AVI) (mencoder) option, set the autosize to 16:9, auto on the bitrate calculator leaving me with:933kb/sec, video size528x324, going from 29,97 fps to PAL 25 fps, have checked the "VOB subtitles" box, chosen english language and then chosen .idx. In the options tab i have checked "high quality" and left the rest as default.

Problem is that the encoding takes about 3-4 seconds and leaves me with an 8kb AVI file, along with the vobsub file.

I use the 0.0.9t r4 (v0.0.9t), and installed the right binaries from the ffmpegx homepage into: library/applications support/ffmpegx. In this folder there is also these files:

    yuvdenoise
    mplayer
    vcdxgen
    gocrfilter_nl.sed
    gocrfilter_en.sed
    gocrfilter_none.sed
    mpeg2enc
    subtitle2pgm
    vcdxbuild
    gocr
    gocrfilter_fr.sed
    yuvscaler
    mencoder
    tcextract
    mp2enc

What am I missing here? I just cant get this thing to work...I want to make a divx file out of the video_ts folder at a size of 700mb for filesharing.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thankx!

When trying to use the MPEG4 avi mencoder instead, it works. But the subtitles wont play in either Mplayer nor VLC.

    Sigh....

Tried double clicking the subtitle file and up came TitleLab, and when trying to export to quicktime text, it says that one or more of the subtitles have incorrect timing....

    It's free.

Try to relax a bit, it won't kill you not to be able to distribute some DVD-rip. Encode hard-subs with Handbrake or OpenShiiva if it's that annoying.

Click the blue "i" icon in the progress window to get the output messages and copy/paste them to major4@mac.com for inspection.
