    Hi All,

Ive been using Nerovision Express 4 to convert my tv show AVI files to MPEG for quite some time now and have never had any issues. Have been able to do this and burn onto a DVD.

Ive suddenly started to have some issues with this. When i done my conversions, 8 out of 22 worked fine, the other 14 had a very serious audio 'out of sync' problem. Its not just slightly out, the audio seems to be from completely different scenes ! I went back and checked the AVI and that is working fine.

I then tried Ulead Videostudio 9 to do the conversion. This fixed the audio problem but the picture quality was seriously bad compared to using the same frame rate (2100kbps) in Nero Vision.
For information, the reason im encoding at 2100kbps is so that I can get 6 episodes onto 1 DVD. Ive done this numerous times before using Nero Vision and am happy with the quality when played on the TV.

Does anyone have any ideas on any settings etc in either Nero Vision or Ulead to correct either of these problems ?

also, I should mention that I tried using the 'Fit to Disc' option in Ulead using just 4 episodes. The audio was fine but the picture quality was really bad. The original AVI's are widescreen, Ulead converted these to full screen and it was very pixelated as it encoded at 1600kbps. Even though it says fit to disc, it only burned on half of the DVD.
I know from previous experiences that I can get 6 episodes onto a disc at 2100kbps.

Use GSpot on the source AVI's - one from one of the "good" ones, and one from one of the "bad" ones. Post details of the video codec (Xvid, Divx etc.) and the audio (VBR MP3, AC3 etc.) for each.

This will help people understand where the problem may lie.

I don't know either of the apps you're using, so can't suggest any tweaks.

It's likely that you'll need to extract the audio and encode the video and audio seperately, and then combine them either before or during authoring.

    Thanks Daamon.

I had a thought after I had posted this that I have only had this problem since upgrading to Nero 7 (which includes Nerovision 4).

I uninstalled Nero 7 and reinstalled my previous version (not sure of version number but includes Nerovision 2).
And what do you know, the export facility is now working fine !

It looks like this is yet another failing of Nero 7 ! Since having this problem I have been looking around and have seen lots of comments on how bad Nero 7 is compared to previous versions and this is obviously just another example of it ! So much for upgrading to the latest version !!!!!!
