I setup a old Celeron Tualatin 1.3,overcocked to 1.6 and DVD Shrink takes twice as long to transcode as you would expect. Nero Recode and DVD2ONE run fast but DVD Shrink 3.2 runs very slow. Is there some tweak in DVD Shrink?

...and what do you expect from a 1.6 Celeron? DVD to ISO usuallt rips and transcodes in 1/3 - 1/4 running length on my 3.2 GHz...

My toaster oven cooks faster than that.

Seriously though, Celerons aren't designed for much beyond basic computing.

Nero Recode transcodes a movie in 19 minutes,DVD Shrink takes 33 minutes. DVD2ONE does it 15 minutes. Answers from someone who has somwthing to contribute would be appreciated. Keep the piontless snide comments to yourself.

Well, I wasn't making any snide comments - I was just posting my experiences with a twice as fast processor so you would have something to compare with. As I get around your figures, I really should be questioning my system...
But I'm not. It's more than fast enough for me.

Is this with Deep Analysis and AEC ticked ? I suspect Shrink is actually doing more work to try to produce a btter output, hence the longer running time. Unless you have a plane to catch, 15 minutes probably won't kill you.

If you haven't ticked Deep Analyis and AEC then shame on you.

Sorry. Wasn't really posting snide comments, merely pointing out that your processor isn't designed for performing advanced function capability.

I'd recommending pulling the processor and replacing with the largest socket 370 P3 you can locate. I picked up a 1.2Ghz this spring for $25, but they are becoming even more and more rare. If you plan on continuing to perform advanced functionality, it will be a wise investment.

When you say "Transcoding" are you actually transcoding ie, Shrinking or merely copying one to one as in when you do a movie only and it fits 100%

If you are indeed trancoding and it is taking 30 or so minutes, that's actually pretty good considering it is not a powerhouse pc. If other utilities are working better for you then just use them instead. Saves time better spent backing up movies.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
