Firstly, I don't have a stand alone DVD Recorder at present.

So there are a few times when I use my Sony DCR TRV 60 Camcorder to record digital quality from the tv.
I couple thro' from the camcorder as per instruction booklet with an AV lead & I/O adapter thro' the VCR.
The other times when I have done this, I have had no problems. I am able to capture with my computer & put it on DVD.

The other night though, I recorded a programme & when I came to play it back, halfway through, a few frames/1 second of footage was lost
(a blank grey picture) although the audio remains.

    I normally use Pinnacle 8 to capture/edit/burn.

Is there anything I can do to render/mend this error as these few frames are missing?

    Appreciated

    Probably not.

To avoid this in the future, turn off background processes (like antivirus) and don't use the computer while capturing.

You might try WinDV instead of PS8 for capture. It uses fewer resources and has a DV capture buffer.

if you end up wanting to record things off tv on a regular basis you may really want to look into getting a capture card and using a dvr program like gb-pvr. I never really gave this type of thing much thought but now that I have it i couldn't imaging not having it :P. I can record movies and shows and watch them back whenever i want to.

Thank you very much guys for your responses.

I'm not using the computer to actually record from the tv. JUST the camcorder.
The computer comes in to the equation when I've finished doing the recording.
The footage was already damaged/frames lost before the camcorder was coupled up to the computer for capture.

    Any more advice is welcome.
    Thank you for reading.
