I just made a backup of the movie "Heat" 172min. long using this guide,
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/16/59/
and at the end the video it goes choppy for a few seconds.
What is it and how can I make a better one next time.
Hardware

Thanks.

Getting 'choppy' at the end of the DVD usually means problems with the media. In the future make your DVDs a bit smaller and this avoids the problem area at the outer edge of the disc. Better media will also solve this. When I use DVDShrink, for example, I limit the size to 4364, 100MB less than default. I use good discs, but it's still good insurance.

Attached is the files for the movie "Heat" after using DVD Shrink. Anything wrong here?

The maximum on a DVD-5 disc is 4.37GB and it looks like you have 4.35GB which should be fine. But if you experience breakup of the video in the last few minutes, then usually the outside edge of the DVD is flawed. Fairly common problem. Reduce the size of the video to avoid the edge, maybe to 4.25GB, depends on where it breaks up. Or try different media if you need the extra 100MBs.
BTW, different programs will read the file size differently. Shrink by default is set to 4464MB, but comes out below the 4370MB limit. -
Thanks. Isn't TDK a fairly good brand. And isn't "Heat" @ 172 min. DVD-9?
The guide I used, above, says for DVD-9. Is this guide ok for DVD-5 as well. How can I shortened the file whether using DVD Shrink again or simply burning the file again?
Thanks. -
TDK's could be different media codes. If from Indonesia, they suck and bad.

The thing is I was able to play it a few times before. Any ideas as to what happened here?

Not so fast. It's messed up in several places in the middle of the movie now. Would using "maximum smoothness" or "smooth" help get rid of the choppiness? How can I use less compression?
Thanks. -
This sounds like a media problem, not a buring or compression problem. What medai are you using (code) and what is the burner you are using

Get DVD Info Pro or DVD decrypter and use it to find the actual media code from the disk itself.
