I use DVD+RW disk with my DVD recorder. The disk are working fine... When I delete something on the disk, the dvd recorder removes it only from its interface (but not from the disk).
To get my video from the disk to my computer I use DVD Decrypter then Dr.Divx (are there any programs like Dr.Divx which lets you "edit" the vod before you encode it?).
But when I use DVD Decrypter (or simple explore the disk) I still have video I dont want included. My solution was to only record and encode one video file at once...
So:
- record something
- Rip it with DVD Decrypter
- Encode it with Dr.Divx
- Erase disk, and repeat.
MY PROBLEM
When I format the disk (with nero (both quick and full), incd (both erase and fast), or alcohol (both fast and full)) and insert it into my DVD recorder I get a track list (it thinks there is something on the disk) or simple a error I cant read (with alcohol).
So what I need is, a way to return the disk to its original state (or at least a state which my DVD recorder can read, hence work)...
Any ideas to properly delete/erase all the data (or a better Dr.Divx)?

Yes DVDDecrypter will sometimes pick up "deleted" material from a DVD recorder...happens to me all of the time.
If you have a "divide title" option on your recorder...look into that as a way of editing on the recorder first...that will leave you with exactly what you want when taking stuff with DVDDecrypter. Divide at the start and end points of what you want from the DVD...write down the duration of that title then take it with DVDDecrypter.
DVDDecrypter also has an RW erase function...try that one also.
You can also use DVDShrink to take material from that disc...the one advantage of doing it with DVDShrink is it has a preview window so you can actually SEE what you are ripping from the disc.

hech54: The problem was my dvd recorder (NOTE: NEVER EVER PURCHASE A DVD RECORDER) was not deleting the files. Because dvd have like 5-6 vob files, and my dvd does not just cut the parts out it needs (do you understand? I dont want to give you long explanation on this if you get my point)... So it just marks it as deleted (even though I could still play them in my computer w/o DVD decrypter.)
So the dvd cant "devide them", nor can the dvd delete them for good.
So the way these dvd recorders work (which id doubt either of you have ever seen one of youd be laughing at me (I just wanted quality, though dvd recorders do not have a single upside)).
ANYWAY, the good new is... Where nero, Incd, win xp, and alcohol 120% failed DVD Decrypter worked(tnx for the info)
Fixed 7 of my disk, and fixing the 8th as I type this (finished while I was editing this).

Signedup guest,
Your DVD recorder is not faulty or even abnormal as far as not completely deleting stuff from the RW. Your computer's hard drive works almost the same exact way. It isn't deleted....it is just flagged as OK to be overwritten if necessary.
If your recorder doesn't have a "divide" or "split" option....try Insert Chapter Markers too. Your particular recorder may incorporate aspects of my DVD Recorder's "divide" option and have your RW react in a similar way.

hech54: I think I did, because your quotes show two true statements...
Jester700: Well to be fair, ill give you a short list why I dont like them: Not compatible on other dvd players (the two that I tried), crashes/freezes (need to literally unplug it and plug it back in), video quality is very bad (only 1 hour at HQ and still isnt very good), (starting it, reading empty disk) recording and everything else takes a long time, everything I record has a static blur on the top of my video, always very hot (surpized it hasn’t fried yet), takes a lot of work to get a acceptable video file on my computer etc.. All those problems for 300$... Should of spent 100 and got a tv tuner.
I wanted something that could quickly convenient give me high quality video. It failed on all 3 of those.

Your follow-up post:
I have a lot of knowledge about computers, I am well aware it obviously does not delete all the bits ascertaining to the video file.
I have a lot of knowledge?
I am well aware?
Your posts show otherwise.

DVD recorders suck. I have a lot of knowledge about computers, I am well aware it obviously does not delete all the bits ascertaining to the video file. That is not why I hate the dvd recorder. Id mention my all my reasons, but I think there is a character limit on these phpbb forums.

Why do I get the impression that we're wrangling with a 15 year old here?
It's probably just the N64 comment.
