I thought of a way hollywood could pick up their sagging sales and keep viewers coming back.

They should reinvent the serials from the 30's. I was watching MST3K and saw an old short "COMMANDO CODY" and thought this would be cool to do again.

If they would come up with a 5 or 10 part series and release it for a certain companies new releases. I think it would be fun to have that kind of inventiveness again. Maybe even make it a "independent" film festival type style. Something thats creative and original.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Or they could just make decent movies that people want to see.

How about setting a reasonable price for tickets? Since it's now cheaper for me to buy the movie the first week it's out and on sale at Best Buy than it is for me to take my girlfriend to see it. Christ, even the matinee's are almost more expensive than the DVD.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

It does sound interesting though. It would definitely be better than that stupid "The 20". I never thought I would have to watch a preview for the preview, since more than once I've suffered through "The 20"'s look at a movie that has a preview right after "The 20" is over. If I wanted to see commercials I would have stayed home and watched a movie on USA or TNT. Sorry, had to rant, bad day at work and all.

    Agree's with thevoelk

Shit... there was at least a month this summer where not even one good thing came out on dvd that i would even have rented, let alone go spend $$$ to see in the theatre

If the main movie is not good enough to pull in viewers i doubt something like that would

Yeah, I don't see myself dropping $10.00 just to the first 20 minutes of serial only to be followed by a crap movie. Next thing you know, they would be placing the serials in strategic positions to boost attendance to movies they know are going to tank. Eventually the serials would be released on DVD anyway. How would this fix the problems with the movie industry?

I got an idea! Ban DVDs! That would bring people back to theaters. If people didn't have a suitable alternative to movie theaters, just ban all of the media movies could be copied to.

    I am a genius.

The only way to save Hollywood is to stop it from making absolute crap. I give you "The Cat in the Hat", "Brothers Grimm", "Batman Begins", and "Battlefield Earth". When absolute vomit such as the forementioned movies gets the green-lighted by the studios, the situation is hopeless.

  6. Wouldn't going back to serials be perceived as having television series in the Cinema?
