Use fairuse wizard or autogk and you can get subs directly.

or convert the dvd subtitle to text subtitles that can be added when you play the divx, see https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267416 and www.videohelp.com/play#subs

and please try post in correct forum, this is no dvd authoring. moving you.

If you search for fuse or srt2bmp you should find info on creating .divx files with subs.

Hi Thanks for the help.....I downloaded subtitles from www.extratitles.to
in srt format and used both vobsub and VSFilter to get the sutitles in Divx, but the subtitles are total out of sync. I converted srt to ssa and tried to edit in substation alpha. Success to some extent but still subtitles are not in complete sync. More over to get the somewhat desired result you have to manually record the duration and edit it in substation alpha. The result is not only not perfect but way tooooo tedious. Any suggestions for an easier way out.........

Just use the subtitles from the DVD. They should be in perfect sync.

Few more doubts if you could help me out.........how to get the video file along with the subtitles play in a standalone dvd player. My player is philips DVP 5500S. Also can the same method be used to incorporate subtitles in a normal mpeg file so that I can have subtitles in my VCDs too..........Thanks in advance.

    HI, glad it worked.

i didnt understand your question, but heres what i do to add subs to my divx backups:

1- convert the dvd to divx (autogk,drdivx,Avi.net, whatever suits your taste)

2- either rip the subs to srt format with Subrip or download them from subwebsites in case my dvd dooesnt have subs

3- use Srt2bmp to get srt subs to xsub format

4-still using srt2bmp use "DMF" button to mux the xsubs and the divx file created in the first step, you can had multiple xsubs and audio and create a divx media format file.

thats all u got to do.

i checked your player out here:
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=DVP+5500S&Submit=Search&Search=Search&...y=Name&hits=25

it seems your player is divx certified so all you have to do is burn your divx media file onto a cd or put 4 or more divxmedia files onto a dvd and watch it on your standalone player.

while viewing the movie press subtitle button and in case you have multiple xsubs on your fiole they will appear on screen as it would when watching a dvd.

hope this helps, send me a PM in case you run into probs while creating xsubs

    Hi

As u guided me I am using srt2bmp for sbtitles .....but its not working. This is what I am doing.

    1. Open srt2bmp
    2. Click on open srt
    3. click on save BMP in (c:\temp\BMP)...This my path
    4. Render BMP......it starts rendering the sbtitles.
    5. When its done...I checked in the BMP folder........I see lots of BMPs created and a .SUB file created
    6. Now I click on MakeXsub.......dialog box come with two options
Make Xsub and Save SVCD Designer File.
    7. In make Xsub I give the same path where my BMPs are stored (c:\temp\BMP)
    8. In Save SVCD Designer File Again I go to the same path and use the .sub file created there.
    9. Click on start n I get the error

Create process error#2:The system cannot find the file specified.

I dont understand the .sub file is righ there in the folder then why is 'nt the software picking up....I dont know I have tried all steps......U help...your move.....
