  1. I am not sure if this is the right forum for my question.

I would like to have your opinions on Nero and Roxio. I have to buy one and I am not sure which one is better to make data, audio and video DVD/CD.

Get the NERO BURN. In my opinion ROXIO sucks when it comes to burning DVD media. You could also use DECRYPTER to burn dvd media by creating a ISO image. Don't waste your money on ROXIO! Just my 2 cents!

  3. I've used Decrypter mostly. Had trouble with Roxio that came with my burner.

Roxio is great for beginners at audio CD creation....but is pretty lousy at DVD creation.
I'm a former Roxio user. I liked it much more than Nero for CD creation. In my opinion there really is no one software that can do everything perfectly.
I'm not a huge Nero fan....once my old Roxio program became un-useable on my computer...I went with Prassi Ones for burning DVD Folders.

The full Nero package is bloatware also, but I prefer it over Roxio. I'd go back to Nero 5.5 if my DVD burner was recognized by it. But I'm content with 6.3. Just don't use it to encode or author and it's a good program.

  8. Believe me,go with Nero 6.Nero has bugs but Roxio is totally junkware and crashes constantly.
Nero Burning ROM and Nero Recode are a great part of the suite and you should have no major problems.
Remember go with Nero NOT Roxio!

This is from my experience with both Nero and Roxio and feedback from forums.

  9. I prefer DVD Decrypter for DVD burning but if it's a choice between Nero or Roxio, Nero is the easy winner. I only have package 1 & 2 installed, Nero Burning Rom and Nero Recode.

  10. Nero always worked with my CD and DVD burners. Roxio screwed up my PC and I had to reformat. Plus Nero Recode is awesome. Nero all the way.

Back when roxio were adaptec their audio CD creation was pretty good ... but for everything else, there's Nero.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  12. Sonic's RecordNow ! suite isn't bad if you want an easy user interface. I think it's a little simplistic but it handles dual layer media now and makes most of the settings for you based on what files you drag into the application window.

I would also recommend Nero - it's had bad press here (especially with DVD's before now), but I have to say I've never run in to any problems with it that weren't of my own making.

Nero Ultra is better but don't expect it to do everything well.

Nero Express 3 gets a C- for editing and DVD authoring.

    The rest averages a B-.

  18. God, I loath Roxio.
I don't like Nero that much either

For DVD (video) I use DVD Decrypter
For DVD (data) I use Nero 6 or Ghost
For CDs (audio and data) I use Nero

I only use Nero for CDs because Roxio screwed up my upper and lower filters in the registry when I tried to upgrade. I was happy with Adaptec's version and used it all the time at work, but Roxio frecked it all up

I've used Roxio for editing...AND EDITING ONLY. It does an ok job with that. I take the resulting files and use a combination of FFMPEGGUI to convert audio to AC-3, TMPGENC Plus 2.5 to encode the video, and DVDAuthorGUI to author an ISO-compliant-ready-to-burn file.

Then I use Roxio to burn the resulting ISO file. Even Roxio can't mess that up and the process works just fine.

Eventually, though, I plan to get Sony Vegas 6 with the DVD bundle package. Vegas, baby!!!

Oh, geez!! Adaptec!!! Yeah, that was really nice...Roxio really screwed the pooch with version 5, but "fixed" it in its current incarnation of version 7. Still, Adaptec was an awesome company before all that....
